Constructed Portraits 2004-2007

The people in my portraits do not exist. By photographing members of my family, my wife and myself; and the friends and strangers who surround me in my daily life, and digitally fusing them into fictional characters, I have created images which are descriptions or metaphors for the relationships between us. I am constructing photographic images, which, while subverting the basic utility of photography as a recorder of visual reality, invest the image with a different type of built-in meaning. It is my intension to challenge the way the viewer looks at and thinks about a photograph.
